Since retiring Larry Bird, there have been many prospects who have reached the NBA with the nickname “the new Bird”. One of the fastest was defrauded forward Michael Smith. After a great season at Brigham Young, where he garnered numerous awards highlighting college basketball, volleyball and football, was selected 13th in the 1990 draft by the Celtics own.

In just two seasons realized that the player was light years ahead of the green bird. After failing in the NBA was playing for the CBA and then migrated to Europe. In the ACB what we saw in teams like Pamesa, which peaked at over fifty points, Students and Gijon.

The latest is Adam Morrison. The gunboat as Gonzaga earned the nickname after leading scorers ranking university in his senior year with 28.1 points game. His appearance seventies, his ability to overcome the 30 points, scoring from different positions and his unorthodox style made the critics think that Larry Bird was intended to substitute.

The Bobcats forward, chosen No. 3 draft pick by Charlotte in 2006, was traded along with Shannon Brown to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Serbian Vladimir Radmanovic.

A quiet rookie season as a blank year for a knee injury and a third season, the current, more in sorrow of glory have led the Bobcats throw the towel on the player.

Morrison also did not fit the profile for Larry Brown defensive and can therefore provide Radmanovic, but has no offensive potential of former Bobcat. Los Angeles Lakers made a bet that they have much to gain than to lose.

The eaves of Wyoming needs to reconnect with the basketball and being on a winning team where the stars are other, can help. Radmanovic is a good reinforcement for Charlotte, which look like they have failed some of his last bet in the draft as Sean May and Morrison himself.
