Ben Utecht
Born (June 30, 1981) in Rochester, Minnesota, Benjamin Jeffrey Utecht known as Ben Utecht is a footballer by profession who plays for Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League but his unveiling album introduces him as a singer, songwriter and musician as well. He also played football at college level at Minnesota. He is a graduate of Hastings Senior High School in Hastings, Minnesota.
A follower of Jesus by desire, Ben Utecht is full of passion, depth and an insight to the struggles of faith and life. His songs incite an honesty and sensitivity, and knock directly to the heart. Along with his friends such as Sandi Patty, Mark Harris, Jeremy Camp Patty and Nathan Nockels, he is a new writer, singer and musician.
Ben was married with Karyn Stordahl about three years ago and her wife gave birth to their first first daughter, Elleora Grace, in March 2009. Both Ben and Karyn grew up in Minnesota, and currently are living in Cincinnati, Ohio. His wife, Karyn, of Owatonna, Minnesota, also attended the University of Minnesota and was awarded as Miss Minnesota, 2005.
On March 14, the Cincinnati Bengals signed him for $9 million over three seasons. The Colts had seven days to match the contract and retain Utecht, but the deadline, which was March 21, passed and Utecht became a member of the Bengals.
