The event will mark an end to the stadium’s policy of holding only sports events. The officials at the NC State University says that the concert will improve the local economy and have brought hundreds of temporary jobs for jobless people in the area. They also said that it is good news that an event like this is happening in North Carolina Sate and it will definitely help the economy to boost.
The stage preparations started months ago. The huge stage is installed in the middle of the stadium and consists of the Claw Tower. Claw Tower is a four-legged steel structure which will hold the sound system and a large, circular video screen for live streaming of the event.
Carter-Finley Stadium has a capacity of more than 64,000 people and is circular in shape. The stadium is home to North Carolina State University’s Wolfpack football team. The stadium was opened in 1996 and it replaced the university’s obsolete Riddick Stadium.
Carter-Finley Stadium has an official capacity of 60,000 people while the concert will draw 65,000 to 70,000 fans. The daily expenditure of the stadium preparation for the concert is around $750,000 which includes truck rentals, staff wages, and transportation expenses.
The stage preparation cost is not included in these expenses. Wake County sheriff is sending half of its police officers for the security. U2’s security team is also making event preparations.
The Carter-Finley Stadium will host the next week’s football game as per schedule.
