Kristen Schaal, an American artist and comedian born in 1978 in Colorado, is one of the growing stars of the unusual humor scene, with radiant reviews and several awards marking her rise. She recently finished the run of her two-person show at the Edinburgh Fringe event, where she and her humor colleague Kurt Braunohler were selected for the IF. Comedy Award (Perrier Award).
Kristen is well recognized for her character as Mel in the HBO series Flight of the Concords and as a contributor on The Daily Show, and for “Penelope Princess of Pets, which is her co-creation with Braunohler. She has worked in several television commercials for RadioShack, Starburst and Wendy’s, and she was also a contributor to the outline music series The Nighttime Clap on the Fuse music system.
She won the award for top unusual comedian at HBO’s 2006 United States humor Arts event in Aspen. Kristen received The New York Humor Festival’s hosted award named Andy Kaufman Award, as well as the victor of the 2006 Nightlife Award in New York for top female comic, in October 2005 she was integrated in New York Magazine’s “Ten Funniest New Yorkers You’ve Never Heard Of.”
She is the superior Women’s reporter for the Daily Show. For one month time period, Kristen has also been engaged as a writer on Comedy Central’s South Park.
