Negev Desert comprises 65%, over 6,800 square miles, of Israel. It has resort town of Eilat at its southern zenith and this desert is triangular in shape, and there is Beer Sheva on its northern top. The Negev has a barren and semi-arid, infertile atmosphere. The average rainfall in the desert is 2 – 6 inches.
Negev Deserts occupy about 33% (one third) of the Earth’s land surface. Mostly deserts have periodic and seasonal temperature range, with elevated day time temperatures, and night time temperatures comes down because of low moisture and humidity ratio. So the daytime temperature reaches 44 °C/113 °F and it elevates in the summer, and immerses to 0 °C/32°F or lowers in the winter season.
The Negev Desert including the Arava Valley is the cheeriest and the brightest parts of Israel and little of this land is cultivatable and that’s the reason this desert has become the center of the Israeli solar industry. David Faiman, a solar energy expert said that, Israel could be the richest in the region by constructing solar energy plants in the Negev. No doubt this desert area is full of resources, both mineral and solar so we can’t say it a desert, it is to be said the fortune of Israeli future.
