Meb Keflezighi is first American winner of NY Marathon

Meb Keflezighi is the 1st US citizen to win the New York City Marathon since 1982. 34 years old, Meb Keflezighi made this significant victory on Sunday while setting best performance.

Meb Keflezighi is a native of Eritrea and became a US citizen at the age of 13. Formerly, Alberto Salazar was the man to win this NYC Marathon 25 years ago, in 1982. NYC Marathon is one of the biggest marathons worldwide.

Keflezighi is an American athlete and he got his training in Mammoth Lakes, California. He is an active member of the Mammoth Track Club. He has won various state championships from 1991 to 1994. Keflezighi succeeded in both the sixteen hundred and the thirty-two hundred meter races.

Keflezighi showed his best performance in the Marathon. He completed his 26.2 miles in the best time of two hours, nine minutes and fifteen seconds. He made this achievement six seconds earlier than the time he showed earlier this year, in London.

He has just recovered from hip fracture, he got in 2007. In the Marathon race of the year 2004, he won the silver medal in the best time of 2 hours, 11 minutes and 29 seconds.

Derartu Tulu is the female winner, ran the route in two hours twenty minutes and fifty two seconds.

37 years old Tulu is 2-time Olympic gold medalist in 1992 and 2000, in the ten -thousand meter race. Paula Radcliffe, from UK was the defending female winner. She finished 4th on Sunday, among women.
